Issue: A broken and non-restorable molar on the lower left had to be extracted. The bite and function of the existing lower teeth was not ideal; note the metal exposed on the lower back crowns where she had worn through the porcelain.
Solution: A guided surgery approach was used to place her implant exactly where it needed to be to support the ideal location for the new tooth. The worn back teeth were rebuilt with new crowns to create ideal function and provide needed space for the restoration of the worn and chipped lower front teeth. See the restoration of the lower front teeth in the “Full Mouth Reconstruction” section of our smile gallery.
Issue: The progressive loss of his back teeth had created an inability to chew effectively and enjoy the types of food he wanted to confidently eat.
Solution: Placement of two implants on his lower left and one on his lower right followed by the creation of a Removable Partial Denture (RPD) that securely snaps onto locators attached to the implants. The secure attachment to the implants prevents any tipping or dislodging of the denture, allows the denture design to be without any visible clasps around remaining teeth, but also allows easy removal and cleaning of the prosthesis.
Issue: Years of untreated periodontal disease and complications from the loss of multiple teeth left Deb in a situation where her remaining teeth were not restorable. She desired a restored smile and a tooth replacement option that couldn’t fall out on its own.
Solution: We had several discussions covering all treatment options available until Deb felt comfortable with her decisions. Five implants were placed on the upper arch to support and retain a hybrid denture which is completely secured in place and doesn’t cover her palate like a traditional denture. Two implants were placed on the lower arch to retain an implant supported denture. Deb has regained the ability to smile, speak, and chew without the worry of anyone noticing that her beautiful smile isn’t completely natural.
Issue: Multiple failed rounds of restoring natural teeth with crowns and root canals had left Karen frustrated that problems were continually developing.
Solution: After detailed planning and lengthy discussion, she decided removing her natural teeth and replacing them with implant-supported hybrid dentures was her best option. Multiple implants were placed in her upper and lower arches and beautiful, custom prostheses were fabricated to securely attach to those implants. The result was a brilliant smile, a perfect functional bite, and completely secured prostheses that cannot become loose on their own.
Issue: Her upper right lateral incisor never developed and she was displeased with the mismatched shape and color of the fake tooth that had been placed in its space as well as the darkening that had occurred in the neighboring front tooth.
Solution: An all ceramic crown was placed on the upper right front tooth to restore proper color as well as an implant and zirconia crown in the place of the missing tooth beside it.
Issue: An accident resulted in the eventual loss of his upper front tooth.
Solution: Implant placement and a zirconia crown to restore the missing tooth.
Issue: One lower right molar had been missing for several years and the other lower right molar was broken and decayed to the point that restoring it was not likely to be a long term successful solution.
Solution: 3-D planning imagery and software from our cone beam CT scan machine in the office allowed us to determine the best position for the implants and create a custom surgical guide utilized while placing the implants, all of which resulted in properly positioned implants and natural appearing crowns.
Issue: Missing teeth, visible roots above front crowns, and upper front teeth closing behind the lower front teeth. He wanted a natural looking smile and to laugh without concern of how his teeth looked.
Solution: The combination of tooth loss and positioning of remaining teeth made it impossible to satisfy his goals and keep the upper teeth at the same time. Braces were placed on the lower teeth to improve positioning, the upper teeth were removed, six implants were placed, and a zirconia hybrid was secured in place on the implants.
Issue: Two badly infected and broken upper front teeth as well as poor alignment of his teeth overall.
Solution: Through a process involving extractions, bone grafting, and braces we were able to achieve a healthy, infection free point which allowed dental implants to be placed and utilized to replace the two missing front teeth.
